If the policy is no longer the time of ideologies, it is time again for ideas.
What distinguishes the center by the center is the idea of \u200b\u200ba society in which individuals are to prevail, people with their freedom, their responsibilities and their merits, where the market for the goods as of ideas, prevail over the state.
The idea of \u200b\u200ba society based on rejection of any social construction from imposing a scheme of values \u200b\u200band solutions.
The idea of \u200b\u200ba country still, even in international policy choices, the values \u200b\u200bof their own identity "western" that are integral and constitutive part of those achievements civil, liberal humanism and Christian heritage, which today mark the distance of the cultures theocratic and authoritarian.
We recognize ourselves in a center that is primarily because it is liberal anti-statism. On issues "ethically sensitive", we agree on the need for serious reflection on the limits of applied science.
But we do not think about these issues, the liberal policy to assign all power to the state, without recognizing any right to freedom of the individual. The center can not oppose the state and economic and civil, and at the same time build a united front in defense of the "state of ethics". This would be a mistake of cultural, historical, political and electoral. The relationship between tradition and innovation, even in terms of moral beliefs and private behavior, can best develop in terms of conflict of ideas and solutions market e non su quello della “conquista dello Stato”.
Tutto ciò non pregiudica, anzi esalta, il ruolo pubblico e attivo della tradizione, anche religiosa, proprio perché non la priva di occasioni di verifica reale, e non ne affida una artificiosa immutabilità alla tutela della legge.
Scelgono Forza Italia e la Cdl milioni di antistatalisti, “cattolici” o “laici”, che sulle questioni etiche hanno idee e posizioni che incontrano sempre, salvo eccezioni, l’ostilità del centrodestra. Milioni di persone che, come noi, sono favorevoli, o non ostili a priori, alle unioni civili omosessuali, alla ricerca scientifica sugli embrioni soprannumerari destinati comunque alla distruzione, al testamento biologico o a una regolamentazione dell’eutanasia, a una legislazione sulla droga che non alimenti la mafia e la violenza. E che lo sono, come noi lo siamo, per ragioni quasi sempre diverse da quelle genericamente e scontatamente “di sinistra”.
A tutti loro una coalizione compattamente schierata su politiche d’ispirazione confessionale per i temi etici finirebbe per chiudere la porta in faccia. Un centrodestra, moderato ma liberale, senza un’anima libertaria finisce per essere zoppo politicamente ed elettoralmente.
Diamo un’anima libertaria al centrodestra.
