Una proposta che nasce dai numerosi casi verificatisi di recente, ultimo quello della lezione del professor Claudio Moffa all'università di Teramo. Il quotidiano della Santa Sede osserva anche come la posizione "della maggior parte degli storici" sia "in controtendenza rispetto al quasi unanime apprezzamento del mondo politico", a cominciare dai "presidenti di Senato e Camera, che si sono detti pronti a sostenere e a velocizzare l'iter di un eventuale disegno di legge che introduca il reato di negazionismo".
